GAM Project
GAM Project (Godot Advanced Movement) is an advanced third-person grounded locomotion controller for Godot, developed alongside a complete humanoid animation pipeline.
I'm a researcher, and a game developer and enthusiast in my spare time. GAM Project started as an experiment: I wanted to see how an advanced character controller could be built with AI tools, and what that way of working looks like in practice.
The current build focuses on grounded humanoid locomotion using an explicit state-machine approach rather than motion matching. It includes directional movement, walk/jog/sprint, crouch, strafing, dedicated starts and stops, turn-in-motion, pivots and spins.
Play the test build
Try the controller in-browser, or download the free animation starter pack below.
The browser build above is a public test of the current controller. Feedback and bug reports are welcome. If you find the project useful or interesting, donations help support continued development. Gamepad is preferred.
- Keyboard: WASD move · Mouse look · Shift sprint · T walk · C crouch · Ctrl strafe · V camera · Esc menu
- Gamepad: left stick move · right stick look · LB sprint · RB walk · B crouch · LT strafe · D-pad left camera · Start menu
- Debug: F direction arrows · F3 live info
Gamepad note: press any gamepad button once so the browser detects it. Best experienced in a desktop browser such as Chrome or Edge.
Animation pack
The demo uses a separate engine-agnostic humanoid locomotion pack developed alongside GAM Project.
A free 32-animation Starter Pack is available directly below, with Root Motion and In-Place versions.
The complete Grounded Locomotion Pack is available available separately on Gumroad: View the animation pack on Gumroad
Planned direction
The immediate priority is to stabilize grounded locomotion. Later development may explore vaulting, mantling and other traversal actions within the same state-machine architecture.
How it is made
I use coding agents and AI-assisted tools throughout development, for programming, debugging, analysis, documentation and parts of the animation workflow. Architectural, animation and integration decisions are directed and reviewed by hand, and every change is judged by playing it with a gamepad.
The project is still in active development. It is not presented as finished AAA middleware or as a production-proven commercial controller framework.
